Background:
Traditionally, in many villages in India, pregnancies are terminated, as soon as it is established that baby is going to be a female. If not the pregnancy, it is done with a dose of tobacco as soon as the baby is born. Thousands of girls dont get born or dont see light of the day before being killed.
Why is it so?
Being born as female is meaningless in India. she costs money only and hence is undesirable. She is not supposed to go to school, like a boy, nor does she need to have an occupation and is only supposed to serve her man.
But this is not why god created woman.
One, who is born should have right on his life too. Being born as woman does not imply she has to remain illiterate all her life. A woman is source of life on earth. Be it a Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi or Mahatma Gandhi, it is woman who gave birth to them. Imagine a world where a would be Mother Teresa or Indira Gandhi would be killed as infants for being a female...
Concept:
Programs would be developed for regular visits to the affected areas, hold lectures, talks, have audio-visual shows in an effort have larger section of people understand the importance of a girl child and its importance as human being. It is also one of the objectives to develop a baby-hatch, where one could bring a newborn and inform the management while remaining anonymous and from thereon administration of baby-hatch can take over the care of the child and provide it later for adoption. There might still be people, who may drop their babies on street to die, and for such cases, we shall develop emergency medical care unit, which shall also infom the nearest local authorities including police.
Those children, not having been adopted would remain in the centre and may have a patron. They shall have their education and their occupation.
